The reason I have posted this recipe separate to normal koddelu, is there is a slight difference to the masala and goes very well with Yam.
- Yam – 1 frozen packet or 500gms of cut yam
- Jagerry – 1 small lemon size
- Tamarind – half the size of jagerry
- Onion – 1 big or 2 small
- Green gram – 1 cup or half glass
- Urad dal – 1 Tsp
- Jeera – 1/2 Tsp
- Coriander seeds – 2Tsp
- Red chillies – 4 or 5
- Curry leaves
- Coconut – 1 cup
Finely chop onions. Take the cut yam in a cooking vessel, add water to it. Sprinkle salt, add jagerry and tumeric. Add the chopped onions and cook.
Pressure cook green gram after washing. You can also sprout the green gram, for added health benefits.
Take a tadka spoon. Heat up a little oil. Add Urad dal, Jeera, Coriander seeds, Red chillies. Once the dal turns golden add curry leaves. Grind this masala with coconut and tamarind.
Once the veggies are cooked, add the ground masala and curry leaves and bring it to boil.
Enjoy with white or boiled rice.
