Menthe Dose

Menthe Dose is an alternative for Urad Dose. For those who can’t eat urad much, like elderly or during postpartum care, Menthe dose is a savior.

Ingredients

  • Dosa rice – 2 cups
  • Methi seeds (menthe) – 2Tbsp
  • Salt

Method

Wash dosa rice and methi seeds very well until the water runs clear.

Grind both into a smooth paste. Add salt to it and mix very well.

Mix the batter very well, so that little air bubbles can get mixed with the batter. This helps in fermentation.

Keep the batter in a warm place overnight or around 8hours.

Next day, mix the fermented batter well.

Heat tawa and spread dosa on it like normal dosa. Add a little ghee to it and cook till lightly roasted.

Enjoy the dosa with chutney of your choice.

Note: If making batter during summer, salt can be skipped. But salt is essential for fermentation during winters.
