This is my base batter and I use it to make other varieties of dosa. I make Spinach khara dosa, Methi leaves khara dosa, Sweet potato dosa, cabbage dosa with the same batter. All recipes can be found under Khara dose menu.
- Dosa Rice – 2 cups
- Red rice – 1 cup (This is optional, if you dont have red rice, use 3 cups of dosa rice instead)
- Coriander seeds – 3 Tbsp
- Jeera – 1 Tbsp
- Red chillies – 10 – 12
- Coconut – 0.5 cups
- Jagerry – 1 small lemon size
- Tamarind – half of jagerry
Grind all above ingredients to a coarse mixture. Adjust salt and sweet consistency.
If using a grinder, first grind all ingredients apart from rice in a mixer jar. Grind rice in the grinder.
Once the rice is ground to a coarse mixture, add the mixy contents to it and grind more.
Heat tawa and spread the batter like normal dosa. Once cooked add a tsp of ghee till the dosa is roasted.
Enjoy the dosa with butter!
